Setup guide

Ten minutes, done once, everything on your phone. Read the big picture first — each step then has the exact taps.

How it works

Email God can only see one mailbox: your Gmail. If your business email already lives in Gmail, there's nothing to move. If it's hosted somewhere else (iPower, Network Solutions, GoDaddy, Roundcube, any IMAP host), you forward a copy into Gmail — and you teach Gmail to send as that address, so your customers never see the Gmail one.

Four parts: A get a Gmail, B forward your hosted mail into it, C add "send as" for your business address, D connect that Gmail here. Everything after runs itself.

A — Get your Gmail

  1. iPhone: Settings → Apps → Mail → Mail Accounts → Add Account → GoogleCreate account → "for myself" (personal is free; the paid Workspace flow is not needed). Computer: accounts.google.com/signup.
  2. Name it something you'll remember, e.g. [email protected].

B — Forward your hosted mail into Gmail

Every host does this in its control panel — the webmail reader (like Roundcube) is not the place.

  1. iPower / Network Solutions: log into the hosting control panel → Email or MailCentral → open the mailbox (e.g. [email protected]) → Forwarding / "Mail delivery" → enable "Send a copy of incoming mail to" → enter your Gmail address character by character (watch g-m-a-i-l) → save.
  2. GoDaddy email: Email & Office dashboard → the mailbox → Edit → Forward → your Gmail address → save.
  3. Roundcube-only hosts (no forward option): webmail → Settings → Filters → Create → condition "all messages" → action Redirect to your Gmail. Only if your host offers it.
  4. Keep a copy on the host if offered — your existing mail app keeps working exactly as today.
  5. Send a test to your business address from another account. It should appear in Gmail within a couple of minutes. No luck? We troubleshoot in chat.

C — Teach Gmail to send AS your business address

This is what makes replies look like they came from your real address. Desktop view needed: in Safari, tap the aA icon → Request Desktop Website.

  1. mail.google.com, signed in as your Gmail → gear icon → See all settingsAccounts and Import tab.
  2. Under "Send mail as:" → Add another email address → Name: your business name, Email: your business address (e.g. [email protected]) → Next.
  3. SMTP Server: your host's outgoing server (iPower: smtp.ipower.com). Port: 587. Choose "Secured connection using TLS".
  4. Username: the full business email address. Password: that mailbox's password. Add Account.
  5. Gmail sends a verification email to the business address — it arrives in Apple Mail (you kept the copy) with a link. Tap the link. Done.
  6. Password won't take? Flip port to 465 and choose "Secured connection using SSL" instead — and copy the password from Notes (iPhone keyboards add stray spaces and capitals).

D — Connect Gmail to Email God

  1. Sign in here, buy the plan, tap Connect Gmail on home, and approve the mail-access checkbox when Google asks.
  2. From then on, quiet hours cost nothing; when real mail arrives, junk is unsubscribed, replies are drafted into the Gmail Drafts folder, and anything important triggers an alert to your account email.
